PRESS NOTE

 

A case FIR No. 61/16 dated 26.02.2016 U/S 304B, 306, 34 IPC has been registered at PS Balh on the complaint of Sh. Satish Kumar S/O Late Sh. Govind Ram R/O  Tarna Road Mandi, District Mandi aged about 47 years stated therein that he had solemnized marriage of his daughter namely Pallavi Kumari with Harish Kumar S/O Sh. Yashwant R/O Chalah PO Gutkar District Mandi about 2½ years ago as per Hindu rites and rituals. His daughter had told him several times that her Mother-in-law, Father-in-law, Husband and Brother-in-law (Dever) used to torture her and demand for dowry. On 26.2.2016 at about 06:00 PM Grandfather of Harish intimated the complainant telephonically that Pallavi Kumari has fallen ill and taken to Aastha Hospital. On this, the complainant alongwith his relatives rushed to Aastha Hospital Chakkar where they found that the dead body of Pallavi was laying unattended in the vehicle No HP15A-3955. They asked the grandfather of Harish about the matter, who revealed that Pallavi Kumari had hanged herself while he returned home after taking grass. The complainant further alleged that the above mentioned in-laws and husband of Pallavi have abetted her to commit suicide.

On receipt of this information, Sh. Arjit Sen Thakur, IPS/ASP Mandi and Sh. Rajesh Kumar, HPS Dy.S.P. (HQ) Mandi immediately rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.  Taking prompt Police action, all four accused persons namely Harish Kumar (Husband of deceased) S/o Sh. Yashwant Singh, Chetan @ Lukky (Dever) S/o Sh. Yashwant Singh, Yashwant Singh (Father-in-law) S/o Sh. Lal Singh and Shakuntla Devi (Mother-in-law) W/o Yashwant Singh all residents of Village Chalah PO Gutkar Tehsil Balh District Mandi  have been arrested on 26.02.2016 itself and will be produced before Ld. Court today on 27.02.2016. The undersigned has also inspected the dead body of deceased Pallavi Kumari at Zonal Hospital Mandi on 26.02.2016. The post mortem of deceased is being conducted by a team of Doctors comprising Forensic Expert regarding cause of death. The spot inspection at house of accused was also conducted by ASP Mandi and Dy. SP (HQ) Mandi and also by the RFSL (Forensic Expert Team). The District Police is investigating this case on priority in just and fair manner.
