Eradication campaign launched w.e.f. 22/08/2016 to 05/09/2016 for the destruction of cannabis/opium plants cultivated/widely grown in district Mandi is finally concluded today. Consequently, at Paddal ground the destructed cannabis plant was burnt in abundance as symbolic conclusion of the two phase campaign.
In this occasion Sh. Sandeep Kadam, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, Sh. Prem Kumar Thakur, IPS, Superintendent of Police, District Mandi (HP), Sh. Vivek Chandel, HAS, ADM, Mandi and Sh. Hitesh Lakhanpal, HPS, Deputy Supdt. of Police (Hqrs.), District Mandi were present at Paddal ground Mandi. In addition to above senior officers of district administration, local residents, representatives of Beopar Mandal Mandi and representatives of truck & taxi unions were also present in this occasion.
In said campaign 2 gazzetted police officers, 6 ASIs, 5 Head Constables, 30 Constables and 30 HHGs of Mandi District were also deputed for the destruction of cannabis/opium plants cultivated/widely grown in this district.
About 12,09,775 plants of cannabis (approximately 60 quintals cannabis) destructed from 1176 bighas government land & about 12,10,000 plants of cannabis (approximately 56 quintals cannabis) destructed from 67 bighas private land situated in the jurisdiction of various Gram Panchayats of this district.
